Fall Favorite: Frosty Apple Bites

This recipe has been in my family for years and we all compete to see who will make their batch of the season first! If you love apples, cinnamon and a warm glaze—this recipe is a must have this fall!

Ingredients:

1/4 cup shortening

1 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1 tsp vanilla

1 egg

2 cups flour

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp nutmeg

1 cup chopped nuts

1 cup unpeeled apples

2 cups confectionery sugar

2 Tbs melted butter

Cinnamon

Milk

Instructions:

Cream the 1/4 cup of shortening and gradually add the brown sugar, vanilla and egg.

In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, soda, and nutmeg.

Alternatively add the dry ingredients and 2/3 cup of milk to the shortening mixture.

Stir in the nuts and apples.

Bake at 350 degrees on a greased cookie sheet for 12-15 mins. Remove from oven before they turn brown.

Frost while warm with cinnamon glaze: Confectionery sugar, melted butter, a dash of cinnamon, and enough milk until spreading consistency.

ENJOY!
